The Sun Big Smile Giveaway

The Sun Newspaper is again running its SUN BIG SMILE GIVEAWAY, a month-long media and experiential campaign to get Britain smiling at what is a traditionally gloomy time of year. The campaign has been developed for The Sun by Stretch Communications. In conjunction with in-paper Sun Big Smile Giveaway activity, The Sun is touring the country this week, giving away big smiles through random acts of kindness. The tour will comprise City Centre experiential activity in London, Cardiff, Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow and will feature The Smile Vending Machine, a 3m high fully branded bespoke vending machine pod which is being placed in City Centres in high footfall high streets manned by The Sun Big Smile Squad. The Sun Big Smile Squad will host the activity and interact with the public to build participation. As the public approach, they are invited on-screen to perform a Big Sun Smile task – something simple but funny to make people laugh. Examples are: do a twirl like a ballerina, do the robot dance, sing a song, snort like a pig for 30 seconds, hug the person behind you or laugh like a Bond villain. Once people have completed a task, the vending machine bursts out laughing and a prize is delivered through its mouth. Prizes include big-ticket items and small fun items, all with the purpose of giving prize-winners a big free Sun smile this January. Other stunt activity will also be executed simultaneously throughout the city, delivering unexpected acts of kindness to members of the public and Sun+ members throughout the day. Stretch Communications is a London based experiential agency specialising in media-driven experiential events.
