IPM recruits new head of membership

Monday February 17, 2014 at 12:30pm

The Institute of Promotional Marketing has appointed Kory McLeod as in-house head of membership. McLeod was membership manager at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and before that membership and compliance manager at the Fund Raising Standards Board, where he worked closely with FRSB chairman Colin Lloyd, founder of promotional marketing agency KLP (now Arnold KLP). Graham Temple, vice chairman of the IPM, says: “Kory has proven experience working for membership organisations and has exciting ideas on how to add value for IPM members. He comes highly recommended by people who know the promotions industry.” In his new role at the IPM, McLeod will be tasked with adding to the portfolio of member benefits the IPM offers, maintaining relationships with existing members and recruiting new ones, and with generally growing the profile of the marketing trade body with brand owners, agencies, service providers and others involved in promotional marketing. McLeod will initially be working closely with IPM consultant Glyn Shakespeare, who has handled membership for the organisation for the last eight years on a part-time basis, but who is now stepping back. Shakespeare will continue to be involved with the IPM, finding sponsors for its awards programmes. Glyn Shakespeare says: “I’ve enjoyed working with the IPM on membership, but I’ve felt for a long time that it needed someone full-time, so it’s excellent news that Kory is joining. I’m looking forward to handing over to him, and then continuing to talk to IPM members and others about supporting it through sponsorship in its hugely important work of driving professionalism, best practice and responsible marketing in our industry.”
