Mayfair House cigarettes £10,000 text-to-win for retailers

Monday April 7, 2014 at 10:35am
JTI (Japan Tobacco International) is running a text-to-win competition for retailers as part of a relaunch of its entire Mayfair House range, aimed at reinforcing its status as the UK’s best-selling mid-price cigarette brand. The ‘text to win’ competition will provide retailers with the opportunity to win a share of £10,000 worth of stock. Tobacco companies are not allowed to run consumer-targeted promotions, but can run ones for retailers and wholesalers. Mayfair accounts for a significant 11.5% volume share of the total ready-made cigarette market and outperforms its competitors with 49.9% share of the mid-price sector, selling over nine packs per second in the UK. A new pack design delivers a modern look with a new embossed silver mast, graduated background and textured pack. JTI says it has been created to reinforce the distinctive quality, innovation and contemporary style of the brand. The tobacco blend will remain the same. Jeremy Blackburn, JTI head of communications, says: “This latest modernisation will help retain the relevance of Mayfair’s big brand status amongst existing adult smokers. We will also be running a ‘text to win’ competition, to support the modernisation and thank retailers for their continued support in helping Mayfair become the UK’s number one mid-price brand.”
