Coca-Cola GB is gearing up for a summer of experiential and festival activity this week with sampling in London’s Covent Garden tomorrow and the launch of the London end of the Coca-Cola Zero ParkLives programme. Coca Cola Zero ParkLives is a nationwide programme of free family activities in the heart of local communities which Coca-Cola announced earlier this year. The soft drinks giant is investing £20m in ParkLives and other active lifestyle programmes as part of its commitment to get 1 million people in the UK active by 2020. In 2014, Coca-Cola has teamed up with local councils in three cities: Birmingham, Newcastle and the London Borough of Newham. It plans to expand the programme to work with more UK cities in 2015, with the aim of inspiring even more people to get active. It will be working with not-for-profit organisation ukactive, which promotes physical activity in the UK, to closely measure the impact of the programme and ensure it makes a positive difference in each city. Activities on offer will vary according to the location, and have been selected based on local research. They will include activities including tai chi, rounders, Zumba and table tennis, will be run by local session leaders and will be completely free to join. Coca-Cola will be hosting a festival to celebrate the start of the summer holidays in Stratford Park in Newham starting at 9.30am on Thursday July 24th 2014, where, in partnership with the London Borough of Newham, it will be showcasing the programme to members of the public and local media. Mayor of London Boris Johnson will be among the VIP guests. In addition to the Coca Cola Zero ParkLives programme, Coca-Cola’s sampling programme will hit London’s Covent Garden tomorrow, with the arrival of a Share A Coke party pod. The pod will be open from 10.00am to 8.00pm, and passers-by will be able to claim a free personalised bottle and will be encouraged to take a Share a Coke selfie to share with your friends. The pod will have a roof terrace where people will be able to enjoy music and free ice cold Coca-Cola or Coke Zero.
