IPM appoints new managing director

The Institute of Promotional Marketing (IPM) has announced the appointment of Jodie Hopperton as managing director. Formerly COO of the Global Editors Network, and director, EMEA, of syndication & licensing of the New York Times in Paris, Jodie joins the eight strong team promoting excellence in the industry. Becky Munday, chairman of the IPM, says: “Jodie brings a wealth of knowledge of the marketing and media world with her. In particular, her understanding of the latest new technologies and her experience in driving the exploitation of digital media in the publishing world will be invaluable in positioning the IPM to drive innovation and growth in the promotional marketing industry.” Jodie Hopperton says: “I am excited to join a fantastic team and build on the excellent work of the IPM. We will be focusing on being the best in class, on helping IPM members and the wider promotional marketing community continue to deliver excellence and on driving towards an innovative future.” Hopperton began her media career in the UK with publisher Trinity Mirror in 2003, where she was introduced to promotional marketing while managing the interactive and mobile strategy for the group's regional and then national newspapers After moving from London to Paris in 2006, she first worked for the World Association of Newspapers in editorial and then sales and marketing, before joining New York Times News Service & Syndicate in 2008, being named regional director, EMEA in January 2011. She was named chief operating officer and director of communications & marketing for the Global Editors Network in 2013. Hopperton takes up her post at the IPM with immediate effect.
