Meantime Brewing Company unveils ‘virtual sommeliers’ with Blippar

London-based craft brewer Meantime Brewing Company is giving consumers the opportunity to call up advice from virtual beer experts by using the free Blippar app to scan beer labels and fonts and access Augmented Reality content Using Blippar, customers can ‘blipp’ the Meantime logo on labels and beer font badges to reveal a menu of interactive options, including 30 second mini-videos by expert sommeliers imparting tasting-notes and food matching advice. Geared towards expanding the horizons of inquisitive beer drinkers, the app employs the latest in AR technology to leverage Meantime’s most powerful point of sale, its bottles and fonts, in the environments in which Meantime is most purchased and enjoyed – from busy restaurants, pubs and bars, to the local supermarket and in the home. Additional features include a range of carefully created beer-based recipes as well as news and information, competitions and offers.
