Retail expert Adrian Thomas joins Mesh

Retail expert Adrian Thomas has joined agency Mesh to co-found a new company servicing retail clients. Thomas spent the previous eight years as Director of Retail at Billington Cartmell, which recently re-branded as HeyHuman. He joins Mesh’s management board and will work closely with Mesh co-founder and strategy director, Chris Masterson. The new company will be called Mesh Retail. Thomas joined Billington Cartmell in 2005 and built the agency’s retail division from scratch. In 2007 he led the winning pitch for Morrisons, going on to develop the much-lauded ‘Let’s Grow’ campaign – an IPA Effectiveness Grand Prix winner. Manifesting fresh food, provenance and community values, the ‘Let’s Grow’ programme is still a mainstay of Morrisons’ retail proposition. During his tenure, Thomas also won Superdrug’s business and ran high-profile campaigns for Tesco, Lloyds TSB, the Post Office, BP and Threshers. Mesh was founded by Chris Masterson, Stewart Baxter and Toby Moore in 2008. With clients including AB InBev, Arla, Champagne Lanson, Mars, Warburtons and Wrigley the company has grown to 65 staff and recently opened a Leeds office. While Mesh regularly delivers shopper-led brand campaigns, the company wants to add a specialist retail capability, both to win retail clients and to further enhance the agency’s strategic FMCG offer.
