Appflare, a specialist in iBeacon technology, security and deployment, is offering UK retailers the chance to install iBeacon technology for free. Appflare is making its full beacon hardware, install and maintenance solution free to retailers which sell FMCG, alcohol or publishing brands. Qualifying retailers will have the service free of charge for three years. It will also come with Appflare’s campaign platform, as well as an app for retailers who do not yet have a live app in market. Owen Geddes, founder and CEO of Appflare, says: “The reason why we are offering iBeacon technology to retailers for free is because we don’t think the value lies in the hardware, but in the meaningful contact with a customer. Retailers want to get their iBeacon solutions installed by September in time for the Christmas lock-down. Offering the service for free eases the installation process, which is great news for brands that are currently preparing their festive campaigns.” iBeacon technology is set to revolutionise retail, many digital experts believe. Supporters argue that beacons can engage users more accurately than previous location marketing technologies, delivering information that will benefit customers when they are in store and in buying mode. Customers can receive a push notification via their app at the right place, at the right time, with promotional offers that will enhance their shopping experience. Appflare specialises in the installation and management of secure Bluetooth beacons in public locations. The beacons are used by retailers and app developers to give consumers location-relevant engagement. Appflare provides a fully managed service for retailers and a range of tools for developers. Appflare also offers an advisory service to organisations looking to build and execute a successful mobile engagement strategy.
