Argos and children’s charity Barnardo’s have again been running their Argos Toy Exchange, where people who donate unwanted toys get a £5.00 Argos gift voucher in return. Consumers have until November 25 to take toy donations to their local Argos or Barnardo’s store. The money raised from the sale of the donated toys will go directly to support the local and national work of Barnardo’s. The £5 Argos voucher can be redeemed when shoppers spend £35 or more on toys at Argos up until Christmas Eve. Gerard Cousins, Barnardo’s director of retail and trading, says: “We have been amazed by the generosity of people since the Argos Toy Exchange was launched. The quality of the toys donated and numbers of bags we have received has been simply brilliant! This year is the third year of the campaign and we were more ambitious than ever, setting an overall target of £2 million from the three years combined.” Amy Whidburn, head of corporate responsibility at Argos, adds: “Each donation plays its part in helping others, particularly supporting local services for children and young people, so please do help where you can.” Barnardo’s works with more than 200,000 children, young people and their families each year and runs more than 900 services across the UK.
