Sports Interactive fields Top Trumps for Football Manager 2015 promo

Tuesday January 20, 2015 at 5:17pm
Sports Interactive, the Sega-owned computer games studio behind the iconic Football Manager series of games, has teamed up with Top Trumps for a promotional campaign for Football Manager 2015. Winning Moves, which owns the Top Trumps brand, has developed an HTML5 version of the famous card game, which is being used by Sports Interactive to promote Football Manager 2015 on the BSkyB-owned web site, TEAMtalk.com. (play.toptrumpsonline.com/teamtalk/) Although the game is based on the tried and tested Top Trumps gameplay of choosing and comparing statistics to win, it has been adapted to suit the online environment. Players can play up to 10 rounds of the game, each increasing in difficulty. There are lifelines, bonus rounds and XP points to be had, all of which can enable players to attain a place on a highly competitive leader-board. The game can be shared on social media and there are prizes of Sony Experia Z3 tablets to be won. Carl Cliss of Winning Moves says: “In the last few months, we’ve created HTML5 games for P&G and Oxford, East Anglia and Plymouth Universities. This game is yet another example of the boundless flexibility of the Top Trumps game. It can be used in so many ways, to communicate so many different messages and, everyone loves playing it.” Ciaran Brennan of Sports Interactive observes: “Top Trumps is not just an iconic brand, its classic gameplay mechanic dovetails perfectly with Football Manager and its reliance on numbers and statistics. I don’t personally know how many trophies Diego Simeone has accrued over his managerial career, but that’s exactly the kind of statistic that the majority of FM fans will have at their fingertips. All in all, it’s a perfect fit.”
