Why the IPM Awards matter

The IPM Awards offer the perfect opportunity to celebrate and reward the best of the best in UK promotional marketing, says Steve Berry of headline partner Emirat My first IPM Awards was over 10 years ago, back when the IPM was the ISP! I had just started in the industry and in fact, was only in my second week in the job. I had been to a number of awards ceremonies before but I remember being struck by how prestigious these awards were, a truly inspiring and classy affair. It was really my first and lasting impression of the industry and truly set the tone for my time in promotional marketing. I’ve been to virtually every IPM Awards since then and witnessed a variety of venues and themes and a real mixture of hosts, from news presenters to comedians. The Awards have never failed to live up to expectation, though, or proven to be anything but a truly great evening. Running for over 40 years, the IPM Awards have always been at the forefront in recognising creativity and effectiveness in promotional marketing campaigns, work that continuously pushes the boundaries, whilst breathing new life into the same tried and tested techniques. This is something that EMIRAT particularly appreciates as we too are always looking for new ways to use managed promotional risk to create exciting promotions, to push those boundaries and create something special. There are many awards in this industry now and new ones are being created each year with the emergence of new technology and the ever-increasing means by which to reach and engage the masses but the IPM Awards remains the best. It’s the one everyone aspires to most and that gleaming gold trophy is the must-have accessory for any agency reception or boardroom! It's validation of all your hard work and, best of all, its recognition by your peers for an outstanding concept and delivery. Given how my life in the industry effectively started at the Awards all those years ago, to be attending this year, this time as the headline sponsor, is truly a special moment for me personally. EMIRAT are relatively new to the UK but like myself, all the team have been in or around the industry for a good number of years and as a company we are immensely proud to be supporting the IPM with this year’s awards.
