Blue Chip helps turn Red Nose Day golden

Manchester- and London-based promotional marketing agency Blue Chip has been advising Comic Relief on developing and implementing its first-ever consumer promotion, the Golden Nose. The campaign which Blue Chip helped develop offers consumers who buy Red Noses from authorised retailers including Sainsbury and Oxfam or online the chance to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences. A total of 12 Golden Noses have been hidden across the UK; nine of them are in Red Nose packs to be sold by Sainsbury’s, with one in Oxfam stores, another one in the Red Nose Day online shop and a final one in the School’s Deposit Scheme. Early winners will become the most special of guests on Red Nose Day, meeting celebrities, stopping off at Dermot’s Day of Dance for Comic Relief, seeing their name in lights at the BT Tower and enjoying the full-blown celebrity treatment at the London Palladium for the greatest night of entertainment Comic Relief has ever staged. Anyone finding their Golden Nose after Red Nose Day will become a VIP guest at West End musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, going backstage to meet the cast and more. Given the importance of the day and the partners involved, the need for promotional integrity was paramount. Blue Chip provided guidance from the outset, helping to shape the promotion to meet strict guidelines and maximise its effects. Terms and conditions for the promotion were examined by the Legal and Compliance team at the Institute of Promotional Marketing, to ensure they were legal and followed the CAP Code, the rules covering advertising and marketing in the UK. Claire Pilcher, head of marketing at Comic Relief, says: “The Blue Chip team in London provided invaluable support and expertise to help us bring our first-ever promotion to life.” Myrtle Doyle, group account director at Blue Chip, adds: “This has been one of our most rewarding projects ever. Not only will the winners have the experience of their lives, but we also get to contribute to something truly meaningful. Our London and Manchester offices will be toasting the campaign with a cup of tea and charity bake sale on the 13th!” Red Nose Day 2015 takes place this Friday, March 13 2015. Each Red Nose costs £1, with at least 60p going to Comic Relief to help people in need in the UK and across Africa.
