Tribe strengthens senior leadership with creative and finance heads

Friday May 1, 2015 at 3:26pm
Award-winning experiential marketing agency Tribe has strengthened its senior leadership team with the appointment of Derek Bain as Creative Head and Paul Karim as Finance Director. Derek Bain joins from BD Network, where he was a Creative Director. Before joining BD, he had a stint at iris and, prior to that, he was at Arnold KLP for eight years, working on award-winning campaigns for Pepsi, Tango and Nokia, amongst others. Paul Karim joined Tribe from top 50 London ad agency Brothers & Sisters, where he had been Finance Director for two years. A qualified Chartered Accountant, he trained with well-known specialist media and marketing accountancy practice Kingston Smith W1, where he worked on a number of marketing services group accounts. The appointments come following launch of Playmaker, a new experiential agency with a unique scientific approach to planning, creating and executing campaigns which is the result of a partnership between Tribe and Belgian agency, Square Melon. Bain and Karim will work across Tribe, Playmaker and the group’s stand-alone staffing solutions provider, Brand Warriors. Chris Russell, Managing Director of Tribe, says: “We’ve started the year with a bang and it looks like 2015 is going to be massive for us. We’ve launched Playmaker, which is already working for Coca-Cola and Bacardi Martini, Tribe has new projects for companies like Nestlé and Canon and Brand Warriors is in constant demand. We have expanded massively over the past year, with new clients, new service offerings and new staff. We are restructuring the board and have brought in some big hitters to give us the resources to handle the business we’ve already won and the business we will be winning during the year.”
