Ark-H Handling wins award for Business Continuity

Monday June 29, 2015 at 2:22pm
IPM member Ark-H Handling has won a prestigious national award for its business continuity programmes. The award is for the Business Continuity/Resilience Strategy through Partnership category of the CIR Business Continuity Awards 2015. This category recognises business continuity programmes carried out in partnership with external suppliers with recognition given to the overall philosophy, the use of innovation and successful implementation across the company. Ark-H is a Bedford-based handling and fulfilment provider and has been a member of the Institute of Promotional Marketing since 2000. Gillian Sweetman, quality manager at Ark-H, says: “We were thrilled to be shortlisted last year but we did not think we had a chance this year, up against competition from companies like Google, Securitas, The Post Office and SpecSavers amongst others.” The company’s managing director, Fiona Strong, observes that the award is a credit to both the Ark-H team and the hard work done by the consultants involved, Cambridge Risk. “We are not only immensely proud of our own staff; we are also proud to be associated with Cambridge Risk. We have a fantastically committed team here at Ark-H who have really benefitted from the partnership with Cambridge Risk. It was no surprise to us when Helen Molyneux, their lead consultant, was awarded Business Continuity Consultant of the year.” Ark-H Handling was also one of the first in its industry sector to achieve the coveted ISO 22301 accreditation for Business Continuity. Jane Evans, Ark-H account manager, adds: “Effective business continuity planning is vital for our peace of mind and that of our clients. We are entrusted by our clients to ensure that the execution of their activities is achieved in a timely, efficient and professional manner. So whilst we hope we never have to invoke the [Business Continuity] plans, the very fact that they are in place, tried, tested and approved by BSI, demonstrates that the business has the resilience to continue to deliver exemplary service and meet critical deadlines even in the most challenging of situations.”
