Douwe Egberts coffee launches Orla Kiely limited edition jars

Coffee brand Douwe Egberts has teamed up with fashion designer Orla Kiely to create a limited edition collection of coffee jars. The jars use Kiely’s iconic bold and graphic print patterns and are featuring in Douwe Egberts’ new television advertising, which claims that the product is “no ordinary jar, no ordinary coffee” and shows finished Douwe Egberts packaging being used as containers for a range of items including pencils and flowers. The coffee brand has produced 1.5m jars in three exclusive designs, which are being sold in retailers including Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Tesco, Waitrose and Asda with a recommended retail price of £6.59. It has also invested £1.1m on the television advertising campaign, which will run until June 14th on ITV, Channel 4 and various Freeview stations. Douwe Egberts Head Of Marketing Talar El Asswad says: "This collaboration is a concept inspired by customers. After seeing so many images of their upcycled jars on our social media channels, we decided to create a unique blend of fashion and coffee, expressed through our iconic glassware, which is how this exciting partnership was born. We think they are pieces our customers will treasure and use throughout their home.”
