Greene King launches ‘giftabeer’ website

Greene King has launched a pioneering new website that allows a beer to be bought and gifted digitally. The brewery claims that www.giftabeer.co.uk is an industry first. The site was developed in conjunction with The Big Kick, Greene King’s marketing agency partner on the project. This insights-led initiative comes off the back of a Father's Day study commissioned by Old Speckled Hen, showing that more than a third (38%) of sons and daughters have never been out for a drink with their Dad – while nearly half (45%) of fathers secretly want a fuss made of them. Barbara Holgate, managing director of The Big Kick, says: “This is a really clever mechanic which allows people to visit the site and enter their friend’s details. That friend will then receive a bar code via email which can be exchanged for a free pint or bottle of Old Speckled Hen or Golden Hen at their local Hungry Horse Pub.” The Big Kick is an independent creative marketing agency that also includes Tesco, Camelot, Nestle and Warburtons amongst its clients.
