Nestlé in Australia has been celebrating Kit Kat’s 80th anniversary with the KIT KAT Studio, a pop-up designer outlet where consumers can custom build their own Kit Kats, including such outré ingredients as crushed chilli flakes, ground roast almond brittle, dried raspberry pieces, golden honeycomb shards, lightly-salted caramel popcorn and fragrant pink rose petals. The pop-up in Sydney’s Westfield shopping centre is open for the rest of August. Nestlé has worked with local pastry chef Anna Polyviou whose has come up with a number of special edition Kit Kats, including a ‘caramelised Anna’ biscuit incorporating sea salt, candy popcorn and yellow graffiti. Shoppers who design their own Kit Kats can then take them away in specially-created packaging. They are also being encouraged to take photos of their creations using a photo-booth which is part of the pop-up and share them on social media with the tag #KITKATSTUDIO or #CREATEYOURBREAK. The activity was created by Australian agency Ensemble, based in Sydney.
