PlayStation excites at EGX 2015

Sony has been showcasing its PlayStation.VR headset and new games at this year’s EGX video gaming exhibition, held at NEC Birmingham from 24th to 27th September 2015, with the opportunity for gamers to see themselves pictured in their favourite titles. Currently in its seventh year, EGX gives gaming fans the chance to play the biggest consoles, get a first look at pre-released games and watch presentations by world renowned game designers. Fans also have the opportunity to take part in tournaments and watch pro-battles as some of the biggest names in gaming go head to head. PlayStation had one of the largest and most central stand spaces on the EGX show floor, and brought in experiential specialists Circle Agency for the second year running to make its presence at the show as memorable as possible. Circle Agency created a fully immersive experience for the gamers to give attendees plenty of opportunities to experience the latest titles available on PS4. The resulting 1650m² stand featured 122 different demo points, gaming stations including PlayStation.VR, VIP experience areas, gaming battles and a GAME retail stand where guests could pre-order games on site. Online amplification included photo mechanics which placed fans directly into the games and gaming props that fans could be photographed with, offering increased exposure for the PlayStation brand across social channels. This year Sony had the first consumer trial to the UK of its PlayStation.VR headset on the stand, bringing the next generation of virtual reality gaming to EGX gamers. Also, the PlayStation experience featured third party stands from Star Wars Battlefront, Destiny Taken King, Call of Duty Black Ops 3 and Guitar Hero, where gamers could test their skills against some of this year’s biggest games. Claire Stokes, Managing Director and founder at Circle Agency, says: “Gamers have such vast knowledge of the games and consoles that it’s important we created the most engaging stand possible to excite visitors, including the option to take part in competitions and challenge other gamers.” This year marked the UK’s 20th Anniversary of the first sale of a PlayStation console, which took place on 29th September 1995.
