Nestlé Cereals #CerealLift helps make Waterloo commuters’ morning magical

Last Wednesday, London commuters at Waterloo station were stopped in their tracks by the sight of a commuter apparently magically levitating. In fact, Nestlé Cereals had secretly planted illusionist Sean Alexander, equipped with a bowl of cereal, as part of the company’s #CerealLift marketing campaign. Nestlé Cereals also published new research which suggests that, by the end of the morning rush, nearly a third (29%) of UK adults are in need of a lift to improve their mood. Over two thirds (67%) of those surveyed said they think making time for breakfast in the mornings would help them to avoid morning mishaps. Support for the Waterloo Station activity – which was design to offer the opportunity to sample the Nestlé Cereals product range as well as create buzz on social media – was provided by experiential agency Tribe Marketing, which created the levitating commuter effect, and staffing agency Brand Warriors. Hundreds of samples were given out to showcase the different brands in the Nestlé Cereals portfolio. PR and social media activity is being handled by The Red Consultancy. Michelle Bull, Marketing Manager at Nestlé Cereals, says: “We wanted a stunt to bring to life our #CerealLift digital campaign and showcase that the variety of cereals in the Nestlé Cereals range means there’s sure to be a #CerealLift out there for everyone!” Chris Russell, Managing Director of Tribe Marketing, adds: “It takes something special, even a bit magical, to get the attention of the average London commuter. That’s why we came up with the idea of the levitating commuter, complete with a bowl of tasty Nestlé cereal, floating serenely above the crowds on his way to work.” Tribe Marketing is an award-winning experiential, events and promotional staffing agency set up in 2001 and based in Whitechapel in East London. Its client list includes Coca-Cola GB, Nestle, TK Maxx, Canon, NBC Universal Parks & Resorts and South Africa Tourism.
