Blippar partners UN refugee agency

Sunday June 19, 2016 at 4:28pm
Augmented reality and visual discovery app Blippar is partnering with the UN refugee agency UNHCR for a new campaign to raise awareness of the refugee crisis, in the run up to tomorrow’s World Refugee Day.As part of the campaign, Blippar is allowing people to show their support of refugees by ‘blipping’ (scanning) their hand via the Blippar app.Once people ‘blipp’ their hand with the app’s camera they instantly sign the UNHCR #WithRefugees petition asking governments to act with solidarity and shared responsibility.Refugees’ hands often reflect the journey they have taken and are marked by the places and terrain they’ve had to traverse to get to where they are – which is why Blippar is encouraging people to raise their hands in support of refugees.Blipping your hand also allows you to show support by sharing a ‘hand selfie’ using the campaign hashtag #WithRefugees.Once you blip, you can also watch a short film trailer, starring British actor Jack O’Connell and titled Home, depicting the devastating plight of refugees. The film, which has been specially created for the campaign, is also launching in Picturehouse cinemas on World Refugee Day on Monday, June 20th.The film was created by BBH London’s in-house production unit, Black Sheep Studios. It was made in partnership with Somesuch and DokuFest, the Kosovan film festival, and is supported by UNHCR.Omaid Hiwaizi, President Global Marketing at Blippar, said: “We are proud to work with UNHCR and BBH to enable people to raise their hands, whatever their colour or creed, in support of refugees. As an extremely diverse global company, Blippar stands firmly #WithRefugees.”Blippar is the leading augmented reality and visual discovery app. Its technology uses computer vision and artificial intelligence to recognise everyday objects to unlock relevant content and explain the connections between them. The post Blippar partners UN refugee agency appeared first on Promomarketing.]]>
