The Seal - Consumer FAQ
1. What is the Institute of Promotional Marketing?
The Institute of Promotional Marketing is a trade association representing promoters, agencies and suppliers in the business of promotional marketing (prize draws, competitions, offers, coupons etc).
The Institute’s mission is to protect, promote and progress the use of promotions as marketing tools and to ensure that all promotions are compiled and marketed in a responsible, legal, honest and truthful way, always with the interests of the consumer at their core.
2. What is The Seal?
The Seal ensures that consumers can have confidence in the integrity of a sales promotion campaign.
The Seal confirms that the details of the activity have been seen and reviewed by the Institute’s Legal Advisory Service and are deemed to comply with all current code and legal requirements of the marketing communications industry.
Furthermore, the promoter and its agents have agreed to administer the promotion in a way that reflects the letter and spirit of the British Code of Advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing.
The consumer can therefore participate in the promotion with the confidence that every aspect of it will be run to the highest standards, and if not, the Institute will speedily investigate any complaint.
The Seal is thus intended to maintain best practice in all areas of promotional marketing communications for the benefit of both promoter and consumer.
