MARS UK tempts graduates to Tweet for treats

Wednesday February 4, 2015 at 7:59am
Mars UK is encouraging students up and down the country to Tweet for treats – and the chance of a trip to New York – as its Tweetshop recruitment and engagement programme hits University campuses across the UK for a third successive year. The social media recruitment initiative from leading food, petcare, chocolate, confectionery and gum manufacturer Mars UK is calling for students to test their collaborative and team working skills with a chance to win a range of Mars goodies, including a fantastic trip for two to New York. Mars’ innovative Tweetshop will visit seven of the UK’s top Universities, inspiring students to consider graduate careers at Mars and encouraging them to swap tweets, using the #marstweetshop hashtag, for codes to unlock prizes from a bespoke vending machine. Even more interactive for this year and further testing their crucial collaboration skills for the world of work, students will be tasked to work together in pairs. One of them will have to take on a dance-mat challenge that drives the speed of a conveyor belt of products that test their friend’s memory. Pitted against the clock, the pair that remembers the most products stands a chance of winning prizes. Students can check their position on the leaderboard on the MarsGradsUK facebook page. Also new for 2015, and to open up the competition to even more students around the UK, students will be able to compete for prizes via the DanceMarsters app. Continuing to test student’s memories, the highest scoring students will win a range of Mars prizes. The idea behind the initiative is to drive excitement and social media engagement amongst new graduate talent through the @MarsGradsUK Twitter handle and Facebook page. The on-campus activity is taking place at Nottingham, Birmingham, Exeter, Leeds, Manchester, London School of Economics and Bath from the beginning of February onwards, kicking off with some on-campus promotions from some familiar faces, including Red from M&Ms, Derek the DREAMIES cat, Papa DOLMIO and Wrigley’s STARBURST.
